Pamela Pike’s Recollections

Almost everyone who has ever lost someone they really loved will remember them through the power of music; probably from a song that relates to a memorable moment in life frozen in time.  Music can hold a place in your heart for that loved one that is no longer here in the physical sense but with you always in spirit.

Filmed in Hong Kong on November 2, 2011 David Archuleta’s video “Wait” exemplifies a melody and charismatic energy that make him shine. “Wait is one of the bonus tracks from his Asian Tour Edition, “The Other Side of Down.”

David sings about the most anguished human experience with compassion and elegance; the loss of a close friend.  Not many songs can rob you of tears but with David’s sensitive side and a very imaginative and creative representation this song is a tear jerker.

There are solemn layers to this music video that is laden with sorrow and introspection but David gives it a sweet sentimentality. But as he grieves over someone lost keep those tissues in abundance. His singing is infectious, his sincerity no one can resist and his delivery heartfelt and heartwarming. He gives you the accelerated heartbeat with his golden vocals.

The Art of Music is through the arrangement of sound and it has a way of touching your soul like nothing else can.  David is a young man of priorities and this thought provoking video gave us some insight to what was to come.  An announcement of a two year mission for his church gave meaning to the video “Wait”.

Changing direction takes a lot of courage as you travel into the unknown.  David knows that it will open his eyes, mind and heart to opportunities that will enrich his life.  Changing direction gives you the opportunity to discover new things about yourself as well as see the beauty of others.  He wants to open his eyes and mind to the possibilities that are before him.

For David, the timing to change direction is as simple as wanting more out of life and wanting to start as soon as possible.

Rosanne Simunovic's Recollections

First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone associated with this video of "Wait" - from David, to the musicians, to the producer, actors, videographer, to name a few.
This was such a moving tribute to those who have experienced turmoil and indecisiveness in their daily lives. And who among us has not?

This video captures the anguish, the fear and, ultimately,  the courage it takes to take a risk and move into a new direction, be it in our personal or professional lives.

And, David has coped with this dichotomy his entire life.

On the one hand, he is the consummate musician and vocal artist - always reaching for the stars and performing with superlative technique and artistry. He loves to reach and inspire people through the gift of his voice, changing and moving them in a very profound way through his music.

And then on the other hand, David is also a very private, very spiritual person whose Faith has kept him centred and grounded. It has also made him a very humble and loving person who truly cares for those around him in a very special and meaningful way.

This is why this video is so powerful. David feels these lyrics - his emotional colors are so vivid and real, evoking enormous passion in the listener.

It hits a very personal chord in all of us and makes us realize that we are all struggling with problems in our daily lives. And, more important, that we are never alone.

His voice is so resonant and so focused but then, there is no surprise there. When one feels the music, internalizes it as well as David does in this song, then so many vocal problems are instantly resolved. Your voice becomes liberated because you are singing without restraint, baring your soul.

Take a lesson from the page of David Archuleta everyone. When you sing with and listen to your heart, all things are possible.
